This summer, thirty young people took part in a four-day summer school in beautiful Matsalu National Park in the West of Estonia. The theme was sustainable food: it concentrated on permaculture and soil, but participants also learned about agricultural policies and wild plants. There was also time for participants own ideas: there was a workshop about food sovereignty and an open session where everybody could propose a discussion topic.

Earilier this month, over 100,000 people from all over Denmark travelled to Allinge on the island of Bornholm, for the annual Folkemødet (folk meeting).

Young Friends of the Earth Scotland and Natur og Ungdom (Nature and Youth)/ Young Friends of the Earth Norway came together for a three-day training in Aberdeen, Scotland on the theme of 'Just Transition' as part of YFoEE's larger series of trainings on working with affected communities which took place across Europe. Specifically, we were looking at how to transition away from oil while still protecting workers' rights and we looked at the similarities and differences between our two countries' experiences.

From May 30th until June 2nd, Young FoE Europe organised a mini-training in Brussels on working with rural communities. This training was part of the project "Youth and Communities for Environmental Justice". The aim was to help young volunteers from Belgium, Ireland, Latvia and Spain to engage with rural youth and to develop joint activities with young people from rural areas in their communities.

Young Friends of the Earth Malta followed up their successful first round of crop-growing workshops by bringing more young people together to learn how to farm sustainabily in a dry climate.
